Sailing Day or Silk Road,或是參考我們製作的髮皂挑選測驗。

Frequently Asked Questions
If you are new to hair soap, we recommend that you start with our Sailing Day formula, which is less likely to have an adaptation period. Once you have successfully used this formula without issue for 1-2 months, you can choose another formula according to your specific hair needs.
When you first begin using hair soap, you will most likely experience a sticky or clumped feeling in your hair. The reasons for this initial feeling of buildup include: chemical residue from past commercial shampoo use (this is the primary culprit), incorrect use of soap, using a soap not suitable for your individual hair type, or hard water causing a reaction with the soap.
Reasons for clumping:your past cleansing and styling habits were more complex, you have damaged hair, especially long hair or very thick hair.
If you are concerned about this transition period, we suggest starting your POO FREE journey on a weekend or when you plan to be at home.
When you first begin your hair soap journey, there will likely be a significant amount of chemical residues on your hair. Because of this residue, there will be a period in which your hair might require extra washing. You might find that you use up half of the soap in just a few days. But don’t worry; this effect won’t last!
As the commercial chemicals begin to be cleansed from the hair, your hair soap will lather more easily, and your hair won’t require much soap to achieve a good clean.
For normal healthy hair, a 100g soap bar can be used about 40-60 times. Everyone's shampoo habits are different, and different hair soap formulas will also affect the frequency of use!
On average it will take around 3-4 weeks to see an improvement in any dandruff or irritation caused by your previous hair care routine. The new basal cells of the skin will continuously change their appearance and gradually move to the surface of the skin during their 28-day life cycle. Keratinization continues during this process, and eventually the dryness and dandruff will resolve itself. Give yourself at least 28 days to see the benefits of your new routine!
Some people use hair soap for the first time and experience no clumping, whereas others might require several days or even months for their hair and scalp to fully adapt.
The following conditions may occur during the adaptation period: stickiness, frizziness, hair tangles more easily, soap residue in hair, increased hair loss, itchy scalp, scalp tingling, issues with static electricity, etc.
How you adapt to hair soap depends on your previous hair care routine and how you use your hair soap. Please refer to our helpful tips page for more information on how you can facilitate the adaptation period. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have!
We recommend that you discontinue use of your commercial products as best you can; for example, using your preferred oil to condition the hair rather than a commercial conditioner. We also recommend that you trim any excessively dry or split ends. A good way to facilitate this transition is by incorporating apple cider vinegar rinses into your routine as this will help to dissolve chemical residues that have built up in the hair.
Although hard water is one of the causes of hair soap buildup, this issue can be easily mended by incorporating apple cider vinegar rinses and ensuring that you rinse your hair thoroughly so that no soap remains in the hair.
If you suspect hard water is disrupting your transition to hair soap, you may also first rinse your hair with filtered water before washing it.
Aside from the initial adaptation period, your hair soap bar should easily produce a rich and cleansing lather. Please note that lather will vary from formula to formula. If you are not experiencing the level of clean you desire, you most likely need to choose a more cleansing formula for your particular hair and scalp type.
Most users say that hair soap does not affect their color treated hair. Many actually find that they experience less fading with hair soap than with ordinary shampoo. Everyone's hair is different and varies in terms of types of hair dyes and hair dyeing methods used.
Ultimately you will have to test it out and decide for yourself if hair soap is a good match for your lifestyle. We recommend that you discuss any concerns with your hairstylist. Here is a simple self-test method: Use your soap bar to wash a small area of hair that is not easily visible and see if the hair soap has affected the color in any way compared to the rest of the hair.
The Soap Days hair soap is 100% pure soap. We use only natural ingredients, meaning no paraffin wax, hardeners, or plasticizers that are commonly used in commercial soaps. We have also made the decision not to use palm oil, another common ingredient used to harden soap, due to its environmental impact.
Our hair soap is designed specifically for shampooing, so we’ve added castor oil, which becomes transparent when exposed to water and is softer than other oils. Be sure to keep your soap bar in a cool and dry environment, making sure that your soap is elevated and away from a spot in your shower that might collect water. Ensuring that your soap bar dries completely between uses will keep your soap from becoming mushy and keep it free of soap scum!
Yes, you can wash your whole body with your soap bar!
If you find that the formula you chose at the beginning of your hair soap journey was not the best choice for your hair type, there’s no need to let it go to waste; just use it on you face and body!
It is not uncommon to experience a feeling of dryness at the ends of your hair after using hair soap. Our hair soap does not contain additives typically found in conventional shampoo and even other bar soaps. It’s helpful to note that this experience is not due to the hair soap itself, but the fact that your hair is no longer being coated with the synthetics it once relied on to appear healthy. Your hair would become dry in any situation in which you cut these ingredients from your routine (for example, if you were to only wash your hair with water, it would still become dry.)
Hair soap will help you to achieve true hair health rather than the “appearance” of healthy hair that relies on harmful and damaging ingredients.
We recommend that you condition the hair with your preferred treatment as you normally would with your preferred non toxic conditioner. This is a great opportunity to begin incorporating natural oils into your routine. As we embark on this journey to naturally healthy and beautiful hair, we find new ways to accomplish the moisture and shine we desire in our hair. The Soap Days recommends applying a small amount of oil to the ends of the hair after washing and distributing it over the dry areas with your fingers or a comb.
The main function of soap is to clean. Hair soap, when used correctly, leaves no residue in the hair. For this reason it is a great option for those with allergies, dermatitis and other mild conditions. In the initial stage of your hair soap journey, we recommend that you choose one of our formulas that is free of essential oils. Once your scalp has healed, you may choose any formula you feel would suit your hair type!
All of our soaps have a mild fragrance that is a natural result of the various plant extracts used to give them their cleansing and healing properties. There will be a faint smell of plants and herbs while washing your hair, but because our hair soaps are formulated to leave no residue, no scent will remain after rinsing.
